Last month there were 121 home sales in Newton and 645 this year, making it one of the top selling suburbs, according to Boston Agent Magazine.

Newton was rated the third best place to raise a family in the country, noting the town’s character as one of the main reasons. The town is split up between 13 smaller villages, making several village centers with a great selection of restaurants, shops and bars.
Newton Centre has been rated the fourth greenest neighborhood in the country, with 49% of homes earning green marks. Residents can benefit from free energy assessments and energy efficiency programs. A non-profit, Green Newton, also provides free home solar evaluations. Thanks to these combined efforts, since 2008 almost 3,000 homes in the town reduced their carbon emission by 2,000 tons.
Newton has one of the highest graduation rates in the state, with 95.5% of high schoolers graduating. Boston College is also located in the town, ranked number 30 in the latest national ranking.
The town has an expanse of green space and scenic spots to choose from, including Bullough’s Pond, Chestnut Hill Reservoir, Crystal Lake and more.
