The first of the two is the expansion of the South Bay Shopping Center. This 700,000 square foot expansion will add 475 apartments across 10 acres.
There will also be a few restaurants, a hotel and a movie theatre throughout the development. These will all be split over five, 6-story buildings.
The second, DotBlock, has been on the pipeline for a while and will finally move forward.
DotBlock will be laid out over more than 10 buildings and nearly 400,000 square feet. These will include 362 apartments and retail space, potentially including a grocery store.
In total the two projects will add nearly 900 residential units and a few new buildings to the area.
This is a huge addition to Boston’s largest neighborhood and definitely something to look forward to.
Although an official announcement has yet to be made on specific construction dates, there is speculation that it will begin this summer.
